3rd Annual Chess Fest!!!

9 Queens is thrilled to partner with the Hotel Congress to host the 3rd Annual Chess Fest on April 10th from 2-5 pm. This year’s festivities will be bigger and better than ever including:

  • 1. Human chess match with costumes provided by the Youth Volunteer Corps of Southern Arizona
  • 2. Speed chess tournament
  • 3. Free chess lessons from members of the Catalina Foothills chess team using the Bookmans “chess literacy passport”
  • 4. Face-painting
  • 5. Blindfold chess exhibition from National Master and Arizona Scorpion Leo Martinez
  • 6. Live music from the Awkward Moments and the Vinyl Baron
  • 7. Silent auction chess board featuring gift certificates and chess themed art donated from artists and local businesses.

Thank you so much to everyone from the Youth Volunteer Corps of Southern Arizona for creating the costumes for the human chess match! Check out a sneak peak of what’s to come.

Sounds like fun. I’m interested in going and competing in the tournament. DO I need to sign up ahead of time? Also, I might not be able to make it at 2 but instead at around 3:30, will I still be able to compete in the tournament?
