Calling all Harry Potter fans

Wizards and muggles alike are welcome to join 9 Queens and Mrs. Tiggy Winkle’s Toys for an afternoon of wizard chess, pick-up games and fun on Sunday, November 14 from 3-5 pm at Mrs Tiggy Winkle’s Toy Store (located at 4811 Grant Road in Crossroads Festival). Come as your favorite Harry Potter character or chess piece for a costume contest at 4 pm. Puzzles and prizes will be awarded throughout the day to anyone who can solve the same chess puzzle Harry, Hermione, and Ron faced in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. In addition there will be prizes for best wizard and/ or chess costume, butterbeer to drink and lightning bolt tattoos, a Bertie Bots Bean tasting table, and raffles for all kinds of magical artifacts!!!

Chess events this weekend

9 Queens has tons of opportunities for you enjoy chess this weekend. On Saturday, September 25 we will partner with the Bookmans on Speedway to host Family Chess Night. From 4-6 come by for pick up games and puzzles.

Then on Sunday, Sept 26 we will have free chess lessons for women and girls in the Bookmans Low Lounge of the Sahuaro Girl Scout Resource Center (located at Broadway and Columbus) from 2-4 pm. Chess players of all ages and abilities are welcome!
